Dear
Craig,
It
is
with
regret
thatI
offer
my
resignation.
I
have
devoted
my
professional
career
to
the
treatment
of
patients,
the
development
of
new
therapies
and
advancing
the
state
of
knowledge
about
cancer.
Unfortunately,
I
fear
my
continued
role
leading
clinical
care
and
research
will
become
too
much
of
a
distraction
to
the
hospital
and
its
remarkable
team
of
physicians,
researchers
and
staff.
I
have
been
extremely
proud
to
work
at
MSK,
where
together
we
have
made
enormous
strides
in
our
fight
against
cancer,
and
this
effort
must
continue
uninterrupted
I
take
full
responsibility
for
failing
to
make
appropriate
disclosures
in
scientific
and
medical
journals
and
at
professional
meetings.
I
have
already
updated
disclosures
in
medical
journals
and
will
continue
to
do
so
until
the
record
is
complete.
My
involvement
in
a
number
of
pharmaceutical
and
biotech
companies,
as
well
as
consulting
activities,
were
reported
to
and
reviewed
by
MSK
That
information
was
widely
available
to
the
public
and
members
of
the
academic
research
community
through
a
variety
of
sources.
Beyond
me,
this
is
an
important
matter
for
the
entire
medical
research
field.
It
is
my
hope
that
this
situation
will
inspire
a
doubling
down
on
transparency
in
our
field
and
that
MSK
other
research
institutions,
industry,
publications,
professional
societies
and
other
stakeholders
continue
to
work
together
to
standardize
the
disclosure
process.
I
believe
deeply
in
the
importance
of
MSK’s
continued
pioneering
work.
To
ensure
the
that
this
work
continues
smoothly
I
will,
of
course,
remain
available
at
your
convenience
to
assist
with
transition
and
related
matters.
I
look
forward
to
continuing
to
be
involved
in
the
fight
against
cancer
and
I
will
follow
all
the
advances
coming
fiom
MSK
with
great
interest
With
best
re
ds,
A
Jose
